Jakarta: The death toll from the 5.6-magnitude earthquake in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, has reached 268 so far.

According to foreign media, Indonesian authorities have confirmed the death of a total of 268 citizens in the earthquake.

After the earthquake, rescue operations are ongoing, while more than 150 people are still missing. More than 1,000 people have been injured in the earthquake.

Remember that on November 22, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake shook Jakarta. Initially, 162 people were confirmed dead.

According to the US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was 10 km deep in the western region of Java.

Several buildings collapsed due to the earthquake, with fears of more casualties.

Earlier in January 2021, more than 100 people were killed and nearly 6,500 were injured in a 6.2-magnitude earthquake in the province of West Sulawesi.
