Berlin: More than 100,000 pilots were grounded due to a 24-hour pilot strike at Germany's busiest Lufthansa airport.
According to foreign media, due to the strike of pilots, there was a rush of passengers at the airport, and more than 800 flights were canceled within 24 hours.
The pilots union says that they called for a one-day strike for not increasing the salaries, the salaries of the pilots are not being increased. The union has demanded a 5.5 percent increase in the salaries of more than 5,000 pilots.
According to German airline Lufthansa, 130,000 passengers have been affected by the strike so far, and efforts are being made to minimize the impact of the union strike.
Lufthansa airport spokesperson says that it is hoped that the negotiations with the union will be successful soon, we cannot accept their demand, it will increase the cost of flights.
It should be noted that in 2015, the pilot union at Lufthansa Airport also went on a two-day strike against retirement rules and low salaries. More than 1,000 flights were canceled due to the closure of the airport.
Later, the court declared the union's action illegal and ordered the pilots to end their strike and return to duty.
